Today's 3 things were interesting. Abby didn't really want to tell me anything about her day. Zander on the other hand couldn't stop talking about it.
Alexzander
#1 First we read a book about 512 ants. It started out with 1 ant stealing food from a picnic. Them they kept doubling until there was no more food. The last thing they took was chocolate fudge. (Wish they would have brought it by here so I could have some. Sounds good)
#2 Mr. Lima brought in a Snoorgle from home. When I asked what a snoorgle was he said it was an alien about a foot tall. I of course wanted to see what one looked like so I googled it and this is the picture that Zander choose to say what they looked like. I guess that the point of the Snoorgles was they liked math facts and wanted to share with the class.
#3 I did singing time. I learned all the songs that I need to learn.
Abby
#1 We played in a different playground today. Yesterday we played on the blue one and today we played on the red one.
#2 Then I had a peanut butter an jelly sandwich. It was round again, I like round. It was good with carrots.
#3 We had PE today and played jumping with a new teacher and he was a BOY! We played basketball in the gym.

Monday's 3 things
I slacked a little last week and here it is at 11 at night and I just doing this for today. Well, I never said I was perfect. I had the kids tell me their 3 things before bed time and that was 3 hours ago. Sure hope I can remember them.
Zander
#1 She got to be line leader today
#2 The teacher taught them the criss-cross applesauce song so they could sit on the rug and learn about the letter A
#3 She had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch. It was round and had no crust, so she liked it a lot.
Now I have to try and explain Abby's outfit in the picture. Abby is loves her coats and winter hats and gloves. We went up the canyon to have dinner with a neighbor family of my parents that we grew up with. So I took coats for the kids, just in case they got chilly. Apparently there was still a hat in one of the pockets. So while we were driving up there, Abby decided to put on the hat and coat. She was proud of herself that she could put it on all by herself without taking off the seat belt. What you don't see in the picture is that she is also wearing shorts and sandals. I never said that my kids have to make sense.
That's all for tonight. Now to go help my husband with another one of his crazy ideas. I am taking pictures and will share this idea later on in the week once it is finished.
Zander
#1 He had sloppy joe's and 4 apple sauce cups for lunch. When I asked him why 4 cups, he said because he was hungry. I tried explaining that he should have only taken one so there was enough for everyone, but not too sure it sunk in.
#2 He got a special prize from his teacher, a lolly pop. Still not sure why he got the sucker, he either didn't explain it to me or he had forgotten.
#3 His friend Emma from 1st grade is in his class now and he was excited about that.

3 things
Here are the 3 things for today.
Abby starts all day kindergarten tomorrow. Maybe she will have more to say than things about Sonya. Not that there is anything wrong with her day revolving around Sonya. She loves that little girl, she tells me all the time "Mommy, I love Sonya so much." With as much as she talks about her, you would think that she was her sister and not her cousin.
Zander
#1 The teacher read "Little Green Riding Hood" and there was someone in the book that kept shouting RED. It was funny.
#2 I played with Alex at recess. He isn't in my class this year, but I can play with him at recess.
#3 Then I went to lunch. There is a new lunch line. (He didn't go into much detail about the new line though. Just that there is one.)
Abby
#1 Grandma feeded Sonya, then she feeded her again before she took me to your (mom's) work.
#2 I played with Samantha and held Sonya#3 After we picked up brother, Grandma fed Sonya

3 things and a pack meeting
Here is the list of 3 things for today. One of Abby's needs a little explaining, so read all the way to the end. Also, if you cannot tell, I try to put these in the same words that the kids tell them to me in. It makes it funner that way.
Zander
#1 We did math with coloring again today. Then you turn the page over and there was a whole bunch more math on the back.
#2 I took my backpack to an assembly today. They showed a movie that the 3rd and 4th and 5th and 6th graders made. But I don't remember what it was about.
#3 I practiced writing my C, D, E & F letters.
Abby
#1 Today Sammy and me played doctor in the hallway. We had to play in the hall because it didn't get put away right yesterday.
#2 Then we played baby & I prayed on Sammy (see below for the explanation)
#3 Last thing we played in the back yard with Grandma and Sonya
We had to ask Abby what she meant by prayed on Sammy. She said, You know when you put your hands on her head and pray. So apparently she was giving her a blessing. This makes more sense if I also tell you that on Monday morning, Tony gave Zander a father's blessing before we took him to his first day of school. Apparently Abby doesn't quite get the concept of a blessing yet, but maybe a few more years.
One more thing. Tonight we had a pack meeting and went up Mill Creek canyon to roast hot dogs and marshmallows. I was able to award one of the boys with his Wolf. This is only the 3rd one that I have done in the 5 years that I have been cub master. It must have been a combination of that and the outdoors and me just being a sensitive boob, but I teared up when I was giving it to him. I know how hard this boy and his parents worked this past year to have him actively coming to cubs and working with him on his advancement. I was so honored to be able to be the one to award him with the advancement.
OK, sensitive moment over. You can get back to your regularly scheduled programs now.

Here goes nothing...
So I haven't really done much of this blog thing, as you can probably tell. I have aspirations to do it, but it never gets done. I have decided to try something new. With the kids in school, we do what is called 3 things. I ask each child to tell me 3 things that they did today so they each get a chance. I will post everyday what they tell me. This may not interest anyone but Tony and me, but this way we will have a record of what they say down the road some day.
Here goes nothing.
Zander
Today he started his first day of 2nd grade at Moss Elementary. His teacher is Mr. Lima. He was so excited to start school again.
#1 Did our morning work
- This consisted of dot to dot and some math which included coloring
#2 We watched a movie that was about keeping a promise.
#3 I drew some hands on a paper and colored them, then I cut them out.
Sounds like a good first day.
Abby
Abby doesn't actually start school until next week because she is in kindergarten. But she wanted to participate today as well.
#1 Helped take care of Sonya
- First she took care of Sonya
- Then Sammy took care of Sonya
- Then Grandma took care of Sonya
- Then they all put her down for a nap
(It is always a group effort when the girls are involved)
#2 When Sonya woke up she was crying so we fed her (well, Grandma fed her because I don't know how)
#3 We picked up my brother from his first day of school.
Well there is day one. At least I made an effort. We will see how long this lasts. I told me kids we were going to do it every day, so they will help remind me to do it.
See ya all tomorrow (whoever you are).
